Can you give us a glimpse into you & Danny's love story?
Danny and I went to middle school together but we didn't really know each other. We re-met in 2013 at our local dog park. When I first got there, he was at the other end of the park, shirtless and tanning himself. My initial reaction was "OMG, who does that?!? Ew. Please don't talk to me." But of course, my dog goes over to him and catches his attention and he starts walking toward me. I really didn't want him to talk to me at all, but he did. He was so confident and funny. I couldn't help but be captivated by him. We have been inseparable since that day. We dated for 3 years before he proposed. I went to the Biltmore Estate for spring break with my parents. He told me that he had to work and wasn't able to make it. But he drove down there separately and completely surprised me! We toured the house and there was a photo shoot opportunity during the tour. He told the photographer that he was going to propose and to keep taking photos. I thought he was going to pass out when he asked me! He was mumbling and put the ring on the wrong finger. I have never seen Danny nervous! I couldn't help but laugh and cry at the same time. I know that life gets hard at times, but being with Danny is easy. That's how I know he is my soulmate.
What was it about your dress that made you realize it was "the one?"
When I was looking for the perfect dress, I had one thing in mind. Classic. We had a winter wedding and I imagined having a long-sleeved lace dress. I'm modest and would have never expected to wear the dress that I did. I had tried on about 6 dresses and still had not found "the one." One of my bridesmaid insisted that I try on the last dress. Looking at it on the rack, I told myself "There is no way I could pull this off. It's so....sexy!" And that is exactly what it did. It made me feel classy and sexy at the same time. I definitely went out of my comfort zone with this dress. But it felt amazing!
What is your favorite memory from your wedding day?
My favorite memory from the wedding is that it snowed the day before. We had the perfect landscape for photos. I'm pretty sure it was the coldest day of the year. It was only 8 degrees outside! I just remember constantly laughing and smiling because we were so cold taking photos outside. But you can't even tell because they turned out fabulous!
What has been the best thing about marriage so far?
The best part about marriage so far is that we are growing together. It has been funny, messy, crazy and amazing all at the same time.
Any pieces of wisdom or advice you'd like to share with future brides, engaged gals, or newlyweds like yourself?
An older couple gave us great advice when we first got engaged. They said " You know nothing about being a husband and she doesn't know how to be a wife. Don't give up when times get hard." Danny and I live by that everyday. We are learning new things about each other everyday. We can't wait to see where this journey takes us!
