Friday Favorites: Elegant Simplicity

By: Taylor Clark

Happy Friday, Meant To Be family! This week’s Favorites post is dedicated to a cause near and dear to my heart – the elegance of simplicity. Many times, brides will get on a dress and critique it for being “too simple” or “too plain.” Bridal gowns have become very elaborately designed in recent years, with designers such as Hayley Paige showcasing their artistic abilities in elaborate and adventurous new ways. While this craze has helped produce truly magnificent wedding dresses, it has also created this false idea that simplicity is undesirable. Hopefully, this post helps you see that there is a sophistication in the effortless beauty of a “plain” gown. I’ve also curated some accompanying Pinterest pages to show you how you can carry this elegant simplicity throughout your wedding theme.

Nouvelle Amsale "Bonnie"

Y’all, I simply had to start out this post with my absolute favorite Nouvelle Amsale gown currently at Meant To Be. Bonnie is a BABE, and you’ll instantly feel like a Hollywood starlet when you slip into it. The slinkiness of crepe paired with the softness of Chantilly lace is absolutely impeccable. And that illusion back with those buttons?! I’m seriously still in awe that I got to model this masterpiece.

Nouvelle Amsale "Audrey"

Audrey takes simple elegance to a whole new level. This purely crepe gown can only be described as chic minimalism. The ballerina neckline and racerback cut of the bodice keep this dress modern while the dramatic train and buttons that extend the entire length of the back maintain a traditional balance. We can’t stop fawning over this simply stunning work of art.

Bonny Bridal: 6614

This simple little chiffon A-line from Bonny Bridal captured our hearts the moment we unwrapped it. It’s A-line silhouette and deep V bodice figure flattering for a variety of body types. The open back is embellished with the absolute sweetest jewels that add just enough bling to keep us completely enamored. One of our brides once described this gown as having a Marilyn Monroe vibe to it, and we could not agree more – this gown is iconic!

Nouvelle Amsale "Berwyn"

Berwyn is a tiered tulle ballgown with an illusion lace bodice that is just as sweet as its sweetheart neckline. This Nouvelle Amsale proves that even ballgowns can be simple and elegant. We think that this dress will be the perfect compromise for the bride who fears going “too plain” on her wedding day but is also looking for the sophistication of a simple dress.
