Friday Favorites: New York, New York

By: Taylor Clark

“One belongs to New York instantly; one belongs to it as much in five minutes as in five years.”

– Tom Wolfe

Hey, y’all, it’s Taylor, and I’m back with another edition of Friday Favorites. Apologies for my week-long hiatus, but the start of a new school semester had me feeling all sorts of Friday Frazzled! But that extra week gave me plenty of time to come up with this week’s theme, which focuses on classic films and shows set in New York. I fell hopelessly in love with New York City after a weekend trip there a few years back, and I have felt homesick for its allure and energy ever since. I’ve chosen four iconic New York films and shows to channel some of that NYC glamour into the gowns in our little Kentucky shoppe. So y’all enjoy this southern girl’s infatuation with the city that never sleeps and have a spectacular weekend!

Nouvelle Amsale "Noelle"

Spotted: A Nouvelle Amsale crepe gown with a lace illusion bodice and long sleeves that would impress even the Queen B herself. But with a gown this delicate and refined, it leaves one to wonder if Blair Waldorf could pull off something so elegant. Guess we’ll have to wait for a GG revival to see if she has changed her scheming ways.                                                                                                                                        Xoxo, Gossip Girl

Justin Alexander: 8800

Carrie Bradshaw may have thought that she would never be the woman with perfect hair who can wear white and not stain it, but that was before Justin Alexander created this tea-length number that channels Bradshaw’s signature tutu look. Now we suspect Carrie is traipsing around NYC in this gown (completely spotless and with well-kept hair) and Manolo Blahnik pumps on her way to renew her vows to Mr. Big.

Bonny Bridal: 616

If there’s one lesson to be learned from the classic RomCom Bride Wars, it’s that planning a wedding can be messy and vexing. But, if Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson taught us anything, it’s that you can still slay amidst all of that stress. This Bonny Bridal gown, which is an homage to Anne’s character’s dress, is a form fitting satin and tulle mermaid that zips off into a cocktail length party dress…perfect if you get the urge to tackle your friend in the middle of the ceremony.
