Happy Thursday! I hope your Labor Day weekend was a sweet farewell to summer. I don’t know about you, but I’m a girl who lives for fall. Don’t get me wrong, I love each of the seasons for what they hold, but there is something so special about fall. Today I’m sharing with you some fall wedding inspiration. Here in Kentucky we have the most gorgeous fall weather, and brides are taking full advantage. Fall weddings are more popular now than ever. Keep reading for ideas on how to throw a fall wedding that will capture everything we love about pumpkin spice season!

The Backyard Wedding:

Taylor and I are obsessed with the idea of a laid-back, outdoor wedding for fall. If the thought of planning a big, formal wedding gives you anxiety, skip the drama. Take your cues from “Father of the Bride” and throw a backyard celebration. If you don’t have a location that would work for that in the family, look for local farms who host weddings. I am so in love with the idea of picnic tables and hay bales, serving barbeque and home-style sides, and doing hay rides all evening. For dessert? Do a pie and cobbler bar with pumpkin, apple, and all the flavors of the season. Serve hot cider and cocoa, offer cozy blankets, roast s’mores, and play games until it’s time for the Mr. & Mrs. to make their exit. This type of wedding would work best for an intimate celebration, but if you wanted to go full out and have a larger number of guests, this relaxed atmosphere would be a crowd pleaser. The Country Club Wedding:

If your wedding day vibe is more formal, fall is perfect for an elegant, indoor affair. It doesn’t have to be a country club, but if you’re planning for a larger number of guests and envision an indoor setting, say no more. Combine rich jewel tones with metallics, minimal yet impactful decorations, dinner and dancing, and you’ve got a fall soiree that won’t soon be forgotten by your family and friends. You can still incorporate the cozy aspects of the season in the details. My friend Kelsey gave out beautiful pashmina shawls as her bridesmaid gift for us to wrap up in and had a friend make homemade jam and apple butter as favors for her October wedding. Both were great ways to make her wedding personal and added a sweet touch of fall. For ideas on how to throw a formal fall celebration, check out our Pinterest board here.

The Woodland Wedding:

If the idea of a laid-back outdoor wedding appeals to you, but you’re more flower-child than Farmer Brown, consider a woodland wedding. A clearing surrounded by beautiful foliage would make a beautiful spot. Tour outdoor venues or family properties, just make sure your spot is accessible for all your guests. Fall-inspired flower crowns, luxe fabrics, and finger foods make for a perfect fall day. If you’re concerned about weather, have a Plan B indoor reception location.
