We may have squealed a little when Kyla and Tyler’s wedding photos hit our inbox. Our friends Keith & Melissa Photography did a beautiful job capturing their fall wedding at Kentucky landmark Buffalo Trace Distillery. Enjoy this couple’s sweet story and scroll all the way to the end to see the vendors who brought their vision to life! Kyla and Tyler, we wish you all the joy in the world!
Can you give us a glimpse into you & your hubs's love story?
We met in high school! My sophomore year, his junior year. He would chat with a friend and me on the steps every morning before school. Little did I know he had his eye on me. We started dating a few months later and have been together ever since…9 years! We bought a house together in February of 2017 and in June he surprised me with our golden-doodle puppy, Leo! On a Sunday evening in August of 2017 we were just at home and he had me “check” Leo’s new harness and he had a attached a tag that said “Will you marry my daddy?” I was caught completely off guard! It was so sweet!
What was it about your dress that made you realize it was "the one?"
Before I went dress shopping I was pretty sure I wanted a mermaid gown, lace and some sparkle. I had gone to two other stores before Meant to Be and had found some things I liked but didn’t love. Before my appointment I checked out their Pinterest page to get an idea of their inventory (which I loved being able to do) and I saw the dress on there! I sent it to a couple friends and was nearly in love. The sweet girls pulled it from the back before I even asked about it and I was so thrilled it was still there! Once I got the dress on and they “jacked it up” with the belt, veil and it was a dress I could move in, I was all in! MTB was a dream to work with! A small, romantic shop where you’re the only one shopping is a dream come true! It’s exactly what Kentucky needed for their brides! I recommend it to all my engaged friends!
What is your favorite memory from your wedding day?
Ohh this is a tough one! I have many (obvi, haha) but the two that stick out the most are the first look with my dad and seeing my husband at the altar! I highly recommend a first look with your dad to brides! It was the sweetest moment! Tearing up typing this! Seeing my husband at the altar was such a sweet moment, too. Him shedding a few tears and whispering about how beautiful I looked was everything. I will truly cherish the memories and the pictures of these moments forever.
What has been the best thing about marriage so far?
The best thing about marriage so far was the honeymoon! Haha! No, really the best part is the love and comfort in just being married! It’s such a sweet feeling knowing that you always have that other person there, no matter what, your other half. Someone who you knows you better than anyone and is really your best friend. Marriage is such a labor of love that we are both excited about.
Any pieces of wisdom or advice you'd like to share with future brides, engaged gals, or newlyweds like yourself?
Enjoy. The. Process! It’s all gone so fast! Also don’t sweat the small stuff because they definitely don’t matter! Regardless of what happens, at the end of the day, you’re married and that’s all that matters! Support each other and only really consider each other’s opinions because it’s about the two of you becoming one and everyone will support that! Oh, and have someone who you trust and knows your vision to handle everything that day! I didn’t have to make any decisions about anything that day and had no idea about any minor issues that went on, if any. Just enjoyed getting ready with my besties! Huge blessing.
